Announcement Regarding Step 2

Today, March 1, 2021, restrictions under Step 2 of the Government of Alberta’s COVID-19 Public Health Measures were announced. Importantly, Step 2 includes the allowance for changes to indoor fitness.

We are evaluating the announced changes and seeking clarity regarding areas of the restrictions that either were not included in the initial announcement or are vague as they relate to Health, Fitness and Aquatics. However, we will be expanding our programs and services under Step 2 restrictions.

Our goal is to announce new programming opportunities for you on or before Friday, March 5, 2021.

As you can imagine, there are many moving parts to re-opening beyond current Step 1 restrictions. We need some time to fully understand Step 2 and effectively build a programming plan that:

  • Puts your safety and that of our employees first
  • Allows vulnerable populations access to our facility
  • Provides cost effective options for you and your family
  • Gives you a wide range of potential activities from which to choose

Our update will include information about:

  • Activities and programs available in March under Step 2
  • Membership fees. You currently are not being charged for membership
  • Changes to advanced booking for members
  • Capacity limits for the Cor Van Raay YMCA

Your patience is appreciated as we work hard to offer additional opportunities for you at the Cor Van Raay YMCA. We know most of you are excited to return and we look forward to welcoming you safely with Health, Fitness and Aquatics programs that suit your needs.
