*In line with AHS Guidelines, low intensity means anything that does not make you breathe heavily or sweat excessively. We like to use the ‘talk test’. If you are able to speak while working out this would be considered low intensity. Note that we have limited the speed of treadmills to a walking pace, and certain equipment such as tires, ropes and rowers will be unavailable.

Membership Changes, Low-Intensity Group Fitness Options & More. 

The YMCA of Lethbridge is pleased to announce Step 2 opening oLow-Intensity Health, Fitness, and Aquatics and One-on-One Training on March 8, 2021. We will be operating under Alberta Health Services’ Step 2 guidelines which requires fitness and recreation activities to be low intensity, unless in a one-on-one training or coaching session.  

Face coverings are required in all indoor public spaces including while participating in Fitness Centre, Fitness Classes, and Gymnasium activities. Masks will be provided upon request. One-on-one training programs and Aquatic Centre activities do not require face coverings.  

IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

All Cor Van Raay YMCA memberships will be reactivated on March 8, 2021. The remaining days on your membership from December 2020 will roll forward for the remaining days in March 2021.

When You Can Book

Activities and Program schedule are available on March 5, 2021 with activities beginning on March 8, 2021. Members may book activities starting March 6, 2021. Guests may register starting March 8, 2021. All members and guests must book their activity in advance through our website at lethbridgeymca.ca or by calling 403-942-5757.  

Members and guests may book up to five different programs / activities per week and up to 48 hours in advance.

MEMBERSHIP AND REGISTRATION

  • Any member who reactivated their membership between July 2020 and December 13, 2020 is considered an ‘existing member’
  • Unless you have cancelled your membership since December 13, 2020, the YMCA of Lethbridge is considering you a member
  • We will begin charging membership fees on April 1, 2021. This means that all memberships will be charged April 1, 2021 including child, family, etc.
  • If you are billed on April 1, 2021 and you would like to cancel your membership we are happy to fully refund you and put your membership on hold for up to six month until you are ready to return. Contact Member Services at 403-942-5757 for further information
  • For members who have not reactivated their membership since July 2020: Your account was automatically changed to a visitor account and will not be billed until you have called the YMCA of Lethbridge to reactivate. Contact Member Services at 403-942-5757 for further information
Yes. We are happy to welcome new members to our community who abide by AHS Guidelines.
 
  • Yes. March 8, 2021 to March 31, 2021 are included in your membership at no charge. The first payment will be made April 1, 2021. All members will be charged their monthly membership fee on April 1, 2021. We will be posting information and reminders
  • New members and members reactivating their membership for the first time will need to pay the prorated amount for the remainder of the month and will begin their automatic billing cycle April 1, 2021.

  • As a member you are permitted book up to five program or activity times in the facility each week. You may use these five activity bookings how you choose within our selection of available programs and activities. You may book multiple programs or activities for one day, but each activity will count towards your five per week total
  • Our research shows that five programs or activities is more than enough for the vast majority of members. Before COVID-19 restrictions, the average number of visits to the Cor Van Raay YMCA per week was 2.65 (for members who did visit. Members who did not visit were not counted in that number)
  • All members will be permitted to book 48 hours (about two days) before your preferred booking. Booking/facility capacities are limited to allow members to keep 3 meters distance apart from each other.

  • Light Weight and Stretching Centre: 45 min

PROGRAMS

Consistent with Alberta Health Services Step 2 Guidelines, we can offer low intensity workouts as well a one-on-one high intensity personal training.

Fitness

Aquatics

  • Private Swim Lessons to improve your overall swim ability. You will not be able to ‘pass’ a lesson, however, we will be able to serve your swim skills needs
  • Flow Rider Coaching. Learn how to balance and surf using our indoor surf simulator

Sports

  • We offer a variety of sports programming including soccer, basketball, volleyball and badminton. You will be coached by a certified NCCP coach
  • Children sports will be offered in a group session at a max capacity of nine
  • Adult sports are one-on-one with a certified coach
  • We are unable to offer group sports at this time under Step 2 Guidelines

Rentals

  • We can offer rentals to households ONLY in both the lap pool and gymnasiums: https://lethbridgeymca.ca/facility-rentals/
  • Proof that all patrons are in the same household may be required. Help us all stay safe by following AHS Guidelines. YMCA Core Values include Responsibility and Honesty

 

We initially were offering low-intensity lane swim, however, after consulting with AHS, we are not able to offer it under current Step 2 Guidelines. 
We will continue to offer aqua fit and aqua walking as low intensity group fitness at this time.

  • Hot tub and steam rooms (plus changerooms and aquatics steam room)
  • High Intensity individual workouts
  • Leisure pool and water slides
  • Flow Rider (one-on-one coaching sessions are available)
  • Lap Pool (Booked low-intensity lane swim and household rentals are available)

Programs and activities are:

  • Low Intensity Fitness: 60 min
  • Low Intensity Fitness Classes: Times vary
  • Low Intensity Lane Swim: 60 min
  • Light weight and stretching centre: 45 min
  • Fitness: 13 years and older
  • Sports Programs: All participants must be over the age of six
  • Swim Lessons: Four years old and up; any participant under the age of eight will require a guardian to be in the water with them as an instructor is unable to due to current distancing requirements

We look forward to welcoming you back when you are ready. Reactivating a cancelled membership may incur joiner fees whereas there are no fees for placing your membership on hold.

In accordance with AHS Guidelines, we will allow the following maximums per household:

  • Fitness: Two patrons
  • Aquatics: Two patrons excluding household rentals
  • Sports: Six patrons

Proof that all patrons are in the same household may be required. Help us all stay safe by following AHS Guidelines. YMCA Core Values include Responsibility and Honesty.

REGISTRATION AND FEES

  • Monday through Friday – 6:00am – 8:00pm (last session starts at 7:00pm)
  • Saturday – 8:00am – 6:00pm (last session starts at 5:00pm)

Time slots may vary for selected programs such as your sports programs, household rentals, or one-on-one training.

  • You may register for Low Intensity activities starting Saturday March 6, 2021, and up to 48 hours prior to your desired booking
  • You may book your programs (Youth Sports & Aquatics)
    • Member: Friday, March 5, 2021
    • Non-Member: Monday, March 8, 2021
  • Registration closes 15 minutes after the program start time

We are happy to issue credits to your account provided with proof of a COVID-19 related absence.

FACILITY AND SAFETY

  • Please park at the North or South Entrance. Upon entry, head to the front desk and wait in the designated line for your booking to start
  • If you forgot a face covering, one will be provided to you (please try to remember yours)
  • Once your bookings begin you may enter and go to your designated area. We will be sure to help you if you have any questions navigating the facility
  • You will be asked to scan your membership card at the gate at each of the two scanners present. Please ensure you have this with you
  • Yes, all changerooms are open, however, not all facilities within changerooms are available
  • Some lockers are closed to encourage 3 meters distancing

Health, Fitness and Aquatics programming is available:

  • Monday through Friday – 6:00am – 8:00pm (last session starts at 7pm)
  • Saturday – 8:00am – 6:00pm (last sessions starts at 5pm)
  • Sunday – Closed
  • We uphold all AHS Guidelines to the highest standard. We strive to be a leader in the community to ensure that patrons and staff are safe
  • Members and guests must wear a mask at all times during their workout and while in the facility. The only exemptions are while:
    • Low intensity lane swimming
    • Low intensity aqua fit
    • Showering
  • If you forget your mask, we will provide one for you
  • Please keep 3 meters distance between all other members
  • We have limited the speed to a walking pace on all treadmills to ensure you have a fun, low intensity workout
  • All high intensity equipment has been removed
  • We will be cleaning and disinfecting between each activity session and all throughout the day
