Welcome to the Lethbridge YMCA Rec Room!

The YMCA of Lethbridge Rec Room is open to Members and drop-in patrons for various activities throughout the week. Take a look at some of our programs!

Youth Drop-In: Free Time

During the week the Rec Room is open to Youth ages 8-15yrs old who are Members and drop-in patrons. In the evening, Youth can come and go as they please to participate in the various planned activities like Trivia, Crafts and Games. In between activities youth have the freedom to choose what they want to do like Lego, Crafts, Ping Pong, Pool, Board games, Video Games and more.

Youth Drop-In: Scheduled Activity/Galleria

During the week, Youth ages 8-15 years old, who are Members and drop-in patrons, are welcomed to join us for a scheduled activity in the Rec Room or for board games and crafts in the Upper Galleria. Youth can choose which location they would like to be in and can participate to the level that they desire. The Scheduled Activities for each day will be posted on the Rec Room door a week in advance. If a youth has a suggestion for an activity they would like to see happen, the Youth Attendants would love to hear about it.

*The maximum number of participants is 15 youth in the Rec Room and 15 youth in the Upper Galleria.

Open House

On Saturdays the Rec Room is open to members and drop-in patrons of all ages. We encourage Youth to invite their families to participate in the various activities they enjoy throughout the week during Drop-in. Open House allows patrons to use the Ping Pong Table, Pool Table, Foosball Table, join the Colouring contests and more.

Participants ages 7 and under must be supervised by a caregiver (16+).

Teen Takeover

On Friday nights from 6:15pm to 7:30pm the Youth Drop-In program moves into the Fieldhouse to participate in large space activities. Youth ages 8-15 are encouraged to sign in early at the Rec Room before 6:00pm. If youth arrive after 6:15pm they can sign in at Membership and head to court 6 which is reserved for Teen Takeover. Youth are encouraged to wear active wear including athletic shoes and bring a water bottle.

Teen Takeover activities include:

  • Dodgeball
  • Gaga Ball
  • Nerf Wars
  • Giant Obstacles Courses
  • Camp Games
  • Fitness Games
  • And More!

Youth Lunch Program

On school days, high school students are welcomed to the YMCA to enjoy the Rec Room during their lunch break. The program runs on Mondays to Thursdays from 10:50 am to11:50am. There is no fee or membership required to participate. 

Cards and Coffee

During the week the Rec Room opens in the morning for adults 16 and older to enjoy free coffee and conversation. Participants are free use the whole space to play billiards, ping pong or board games. The lights are dimmed to encourage a calming environment perfect for relaxation and conversation. This Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:45am – 10:30am, excluding holidays.

  • Is there a cost? The Rec Room cost is included in your membership or in your daily drop in rate.
  • Do I need to check in? Yes, when you arrive in the Rec Room scan your membership card. If you have paid for drop-in let the staff know.
  • Where is it? Our Rec Room is located across from our Membership desk beside the All Gender Washrooms.
  • Are there any exceptions to the ages of Youth Drop-in? No, there are no exceptions due to the YMCA’s Child Protection Policy which requires children 7 and under to have supervision of a caregiver 16 years or older, and to provide safety for all room users.
  • Are Support Workers allowed in the Rec Room? Yes! Support Workers please see the membership desk for facility access at your first visit.
  • Where can I find the Activity Schedule? Each week the schedule is posted on the Rec Room door. Note that the weekly schedule may change on the day based on participation number.
  • What is there to do? Our Rec Room includes:
    • Pool table
    • Ping pong table
    • Crafts and Colouring Contests
    • Video games (During specific times)
    • Board games and puzzles
    • Lego

    • Daily Challenges
