Licensed Child Care

Ages 0-6

Developed in 2001 by a team of child care experts at the YMCA of Greater Toronto, our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum prepares children ages 0-6 for school and life-long achievement by nurturing their curiosity and development in the most natural way possible…through play!

An integral part of all licensed YMCA early learning child care across Canada since 2007, YMCA Playing to Learn aligns with all provincial early learning frameworks adopted to date and is based on research and evidence that shows play is the most effective way that children learn and gain new skills.

We offer Licensed Child Care at three convenient locations in Lethbridge:

Affordability Grant

The YMCA of Lethbridge is pleased to announce that our child care centres are now benefitting from the federal government’s Child Care Affordability Grant; A plan to cut child care prices across Canada over the course of five years. Our child care fees are now more affordable than ever before!

Subsidy

Subsidies are available from The Alberta Government to offset the cost of child care for eligible families.

Summer School-Age Subsidy Rates

The Government of Alberta continues to support families in accessing affordable, quality child care. We heard from parents and child care programs that increasing school-age child care subsidy rates during the summer months in 2020 and 2021 helped many families who needed full-day care while schools are closed–and we are pleased to provide an increase again for summer 2022.

For July and August 2022, subsidy rates will increase to help offset the full-time program fees for eligible school-age children enrolled in licensed childcare programs over the summer months. The rate increase will occur automatically and is applicable to children who attended in Grades1-6 during the 2021-22 school year. The subsidy rates will return to the regular amounts starting in September.
